Weekly Roundup
Aaron Brethorst • January 26, 2013
Hi everyone, and welcome to our weekly roundup! Today, we have a ton of great, new controls, a gorgeous app chock-full of open source controls built by one of our readers, and a new sponsor!
I know I may sound like a broken record, but I’m continually amazed by the skills and generosity alike of the iOS developer community: the amount of time and energy it takes to build components like the ones we have featured this week is immense, and then these are just given away. Th...

You can’t have just one when you publish 25 controls in a single week! This week featured some really fantastic open source components, and picking even just two was tough.

I want to say a few words about HelpShift, our sponsor for the roundup. They reached out to us about sponsoring us because of the quality and capability of the developers who patronize our site. Please take a few minutes to check out their offerings. I feel very strongly about only featuring content on Cocoa Controls that I feel is worthy of your attention, and their product is no exception. Before we agreed to their sponsorship, I tried out their product and integrated it into an iOS app I...

Hi folks, welcome to our weekly roundup! It’s been one of those weeks: we’ve had way too many cool controls posted to the site for me to be able to choose just one to be our control of the week. So, we have two again for you today! Bravo to the authors for their creativity, skill and generosity.
Additionally, this week wasn’t as big in terms of site improvements as last week, but I made one change that should be of great interest: specifically, you can now see the R...

We recently added a new area to the site where you can view apps that use controls featured on Cocoa Controls. Learn how the best apps out there implement some of their coolest features and how you can do the same in your own app.

Hi everyone, welcome to our weekly roundup. I’m sure you’ve heard the news, but I just wanted to add my two cents. Everyone here was shocked and saddened by the death of Aaron Swartz this week. I had the pleasure of speaking with him a little over four years ago. I was getting close to shipping my first iOS app, and wanted to know if I could include some data from one of his sites in the application. Aaron...

This past week, I rolled out a new feature to collect all of the apps in the App Store that use a particular control. Let’s say that you’re using Evernote for iPhone, and want to know how they display little popover views on their maps. It turns out that if you dig deep enough through the app, you can find a list of acknowledgements that highlights their use of WEPopover, SMCalloutView, GPUImage, and—well—

Weekly Roundup

Hi everyone, I hope you had a very happy new year! Now that we’re in 2013, it’s time to start looking ahead to the summer and WWDC. Word is already circulating that iOS 7 and an unknown iOS device are showing up in developers’ logs.
Meanwhile, we have a really fantastic selection of controls for you here this week. Picking our Control of the Week this week was a really difficult exercise. For instance, we have a great image cropping tool, seve...

This week, we had so many great controls that I couldn’t pick a single Control of the Week, and decided that two had to share the distinction. The first is KLNoteViewController from the prolific and very talented Kieran Lafferty, a Canadian mobile developer who you probably remember from his last few controls of the week. KLNoteViewController is a gorgeous tabbed container interface for navigating between multiple view controllers.
The second is GC3DFlipTransitionStyleSegue from <...
